Abstract submission instructions

Abstract submission deadline is Friday, April 1st, 2016 at NOON. Abstracts received after the deadline will be late and will not be eligible for an award/oral. A notification of receipt will be sent by email within 5 business days. Notification of acceptance of either oral or poster presentation will be emailed to you by Wednesday, May 4th, 2016.

Only current research is eligible. An abstract that has been published as a journal manuscript prior to January 2016 will not be accepted. Previously submitted abstracts (to the McGill Cardiovascular Research Day) should not be resubmitted.

All abstracts submitted must comply with the guidelines (see below) to be considered for acceptance. Abstracts that do not comply will be returned to the author. All resubmitted abstracts must be received by the deadline date or will not be considered for an award/oral.

A maximum of 3 abstracts may be submitted however only one abstract per author will be eligible for an award. The abstract to be considered for an award should be entered last.

All presenting authors must complete a registration form and submit it along with their abstract(s). Any accompanying supervisor or colleague (i.e. who plans to attend) must complete a registration form as well.

Please select either “Basic Science” or “Clinical or Population Health” category.

On the last abstract submitted, please indicate your preferred presentation style of oral or poster presentation. Abstracts will be allocated to either oral or poster presentation based on the author’s preference wherever possible. The Organizing Committee may encourage an oral presentation.

Junior faculty are encouraged to submit abstracts however they are not eligible for an award.

Abstracts are submitted for blinded review to a team of judges, selected by the Organizing Committee. Judges will independently grade the abstracts in their category and assign a score. Judges may not have specific knowledge of your research area; it is therefore encouraged that your abstract be written in terms understood by a general scientific audience. Avoid abbreviations and acronyms as much as possible.
